“This was not my idea.” Paul St. Pierre

This inscription was actually carved onto the grave marker of St. Pierre – a prolific Canadian writer and a man of great humour.  For those of us who love life and are faced with imminent death, it would be hard to find a better epitaph.

“Congratulations to our Founder, Bob Desautels, who has been awarded both the Paul Harris Fellowship from the Rotary Club of Guelph AND the George D. Bedell award from the University of Guelph HAFA/HFTM Alumni Association!

The Paul Harris Fellowship honours an individual that demonstrates significant support for the wonderful work of The Rotary Foundation. It is the highest honour the Rotary Club can bestow upon a person, and represents a combination of fellowship and extraordinary service to the community.

The George D. Bedell award from the University HAFA/HFTM Alumni Association honours distinguished alumni of The School of Hospitality, Food and Tourism Management who have consistently shown professionalism, outstanding achievement and personal contribution to the school and to the field. The recipient served as an inspiration to the industry as well as the school and its communities.

Our core principles of sustainability, supporting local food and beverage producers, community involvement and all around being the change we want to see in the world, are because of this man. Make sure to congratulate Bob the next time you see him around town!”
